Binoculars produced at ASELSAN Precision Optics Production Facility sent to Afrin

Osman Yıldırım, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASELSAN Hassas Optik Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, said: "The binoculars we produced in Sivas are being actively used in Afrin. This makes us proud."

The binoculars produced at the ASELSAN Precision Optics Production Facility operating in Sivas are being used by the security forces taking part in the Operation Olive Branch conducted by the Turkish Armed Forces in the Afrin region of Syria.

Osman Yıldırım, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of ASELSAN Hassas Optik Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ, told press members at the factory in Sivas Organized Industrial Zone that the facility, which was established in partnership with ASELSAN and Sivas businessmen, has been producing since 2016.

Stating that night vision, infrared and day vision lenses and binoculars are produced in the factory, Yıldırım said, "Many of our products are currently being used by our armed forces. The binoculars we produce in Sivas are actively used in Afrin. This makes us proud."

Yıldırım stated that by developing the defense industry in Sivas, they aim to put at least 10 facilities into operation in this field and said, "ASELSAN has been a pioneer and is currently training its suppliers. It also gives work to other industrial organizations in Sivas. Our investments continue, and we plan to start the second factory towards the end of this year."

'OUR GOAL AFTER 10 YEARS...'

Stating that the factory is the only facility in Turkey with ASELSAN and civilian partners, Yıldırım said:

"Our goal for the next 10 years is to have Sivas after Ankara in the defense industry. Especially in the field of national lenses, there is nowhere else in Turkey but us. These needs were met from abroad until today. We are aspiring to make the weapon-mounted binoculars that our army, police and security forces will use in Sivas."

Yıldırım stated that the binoculars produced by working in three shifts were sent to Ankara, from where they were sent to Afrin according to the need, and said, "We sent our day-vision binoculars, binoculars used by the gendarmerie, and binoculars attached to tanks to Afrin and they are currently being used there."

Stating that the products are also sent abroad, Yıldırım said, "The Philippines army also uses the night vision binoculars, and we also send our products to Kazakhstan, Jordan and Qatar."
