Gökhan CEYLAN/ SİVAS, (DHA)- Osman Yıldırım, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan Precision Optics Factory operating in the Organized Industrial Zone in SİVAS, stated that they are currently sending weapon scopes to two countries and said, "Our main goal is to meet the needs of our national army. We are in demand for the scopes of our national weapon. We want to give a national product to our army and police."
Aselsan Precision Optics Factory, which opened in Sivas about 5 months ago, started exporting the first binoculars it produced. The factory, which is a joint investment of Aselsan and Sivas Optik Malzemeleri, sent its first production to Jordan. The factory, which produces rifle-mounted sights, day vision scopes, night vision scopes and thermal weapon scopes, sent its second production to the Philippines, about 9 thousand kilometers away from Sivas.
100 Percent Domestic Production
Making a statement on the subject, Osman Yıldırım, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aselsan Precision Optics Production Factory, stated that the factory was opened last May 28 and that it produces with 100 qualified employees, and said: "The first products we make are night vision scopes, infrared scopes and weapon sights. This is the only facility in Turkey with 100 percent domestic production. And we have started to send the products we produce abroad. Currently, the army of the Philippines uses the night vision scope produced in Sivas."
"We are in demand for the scopes of our national weapon"
Stating that they want to produce all the binoculars needed by the Turkish Armed Forces in Sivas with national facilities, Yıldırım said, "Our main goal is to meet the needs of our national army. We currently have the infrastructure and production capability to meet this need. We are affordable both in price and quality. We want to be preferred in this regard. If we want to strengthen our defence industry, we need to nationalize it. In order to nationalize it, our army and police should prefer such facilities established in our country and the products they produce. We are especially in demand for the scopes of our national weapon. Afterwards, we are in demand for the modernization of the scopes of commando weapons. We want to give a national product to our army and police, and we want to give a better quality and more affordable product. For the development of our defense industry, such facilities should be supported so that other facilities can be opened accordingly."
